the place

London is a truly amazing capital city and home of all the local authorities taking part in the scheme. With 33 boroughs and covering an area of approximately 620 square miles London offers great choices for anyone successfully selected. It has many of the UK's finest galleries, museums, theatres, department stores, sporting and music venues as well as hosting the 2012 Olympics.

something for everyone

There are 13 boroughs participating in this year's scheme. With such a great level of choice, whichever London Borough you work and study in will offer you a high level of cultural diversity. Being part of the community is essential to your success as you learn what people need from you and the services you deliver.

Also paticipating in this year's scheme is the Greater London Authority.

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is at the strategic centre of London's government and the home to the directly elected Mayor of London - Boris Johnson - and the 25 strong London Assembly. The GLA gets involved in policy and programme work covering a wide variety of different fields - including community safety, planning, transport, economic development, housing, environment, culture and health. The GLA also sets the £12bn annual budget for the GLA Group which encompasses Transport for London, the London Development Agency, the Metropolitan Police Authority, the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority and the GLA itself. Please click here to find out more about the GLA.

London also offers an incredible cultural experience with fantastic history around every corner ready to be discovered. It is home to many of the UK's finest centres (entertainment, shopping, educational) and will offer anyone joining the scheme chances on a personal and professional level they are unlikely to find elsewhere in the UK today.
